HAPPENING NOW: GOP Presser on next steps to repeal / replace Obamacare

The presser was over almost before it began.  GOP leaders, including Paul Ryan, each made a brief statement, took three questions and ran from the clamoring press corp. We’ll post the link to the presser as soon as it’s available.

Ford plans ‘significant’ investments in 3 plants

The Dearborn-based automaker will announce investments at its Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, Flat Rock Assembly Plant and its Romeo Engine Plant, according to the sources who agreed to speak only on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to release the information. It is unclear how many jobs will be created, or the total dollar amount. However, one of the sources characterized the investments as “significant.” A promised $700 million investment at the Michigan Assembly Plant was part of the 2015 Ford-United Auto Workers contract.

Our take: The president is doing what he said he would during his campaign – working with companies to keep or create jobs in the US. It remains to be seen whether Ford accepted any type of incentive package for the three plan investment.

Rep. Mo Brooks files bill to repeal Obamacare

In a simple two-page document, an Alabama congressman has filed a bill in the U.S. House of Representatives to repeal Obamacare.

. . .

And the bill uses just one sentence to do it.

Our take: Good. Get rid of the ACA – that’s what President Trump was voted in for.
