New Safe Confinement Sarcophagus marks 31st anniversary of Chernobyl disaster

Last week was the 31st anniversary of the nuclear disaster at Chernobyl, Ukraine. Recently, the largest man-made structure ever moved over land, the New Safe Confinement Sarcophagus, was inched into place, encapsulating the destroyed plant and eliminating further nuclear contamination in and around the Ukraine, Russia, and Europe. This was a project 25 years in the making, from design to finish and cost over $1.6 billion.
